The B6255 to Hawes from the A65 just below Kirkby Lonsdale is a top run. And not very busy apart from the odd stray sheep, which just adds to the buzz.

Totally agree. Years ago I did this road in a old Cavalier and wrote on a post card that when I returned I would have 200bhp+ and rear wheel drive....

I took my Chimaera on that road in June! I spent 4 days cruising around Hawes and the area. The road from Hawes to Leyburn is good fun to. Also recomend the Buttertubs Pass between Hawes and Muker. Have done this in the XR31 and TVR. Both good fun in different ways. Must say the buttertubs can be a little scary at times

So that's the back roads from Gisburn to Settle (Avoid death and speed trap A road), Up the B??? to Hawes.

Now about these sheep ! They hurt ! I hit one at 3 mph in a metro near Malham and my wife belted me around the ear for Denting her car. (It ran off bleating)
