Shell to make world's most expensive advert for F1
24 January 2007
Ferrari sponsor and supplier Shell is to film one of the most expensive television adverts in history when it kicks off filming of an advert with Ferrari F1 cars. The oil company will seal off streets in famous cities around the world including London and New York and the adverts will feature Ferrari F1 cars racing through the streets.

The adverts are due to cost £2million according to the UK's Marketing magazine. The London leg will be filmed on 17 February and the adverts will debut on TV when the new season starts in March.

Anyone fancy going to see Ferarri driving around the streets of london, not sure of the plans or route, but sounds interesting.

Thanks I'll keep an eye out. Hopefully I can actually get some photos, unlike at the London run in 2004!

Saw Schumacher in Rome driving F1 Ferrari around the Coliseum on Saturday morning.
They only shut the road for a couple of minutes, quite a fast low key operation.
An old F1 Ferrari whent round first followed by Schumacher.
Some friends where in the Coliseum at the time. Aparantly the noise was incredable.
I'll probably have to wait until the start of the F1 season to see it.

This sounds interesting. I'll keep my eye on this thread. thumbup

BTW, I think it was Bertolini who drove around Rome, not Schumacher.

Wasnt Bertolini, unless he wore a different helmet. The helmet was mainly red. I will try & look through the photos I took for more info.
The driver of the classic Ferrari wore a period plain white helmet.

Depending on why it was done he could have been wearing Schumachers helmets!

I found out nothing, Ferarri directed me to Shell, who directed me to various different departments, with no one giving me any answers

I've now heard that this isn't happening on Saturday as some environmentalists are planning disruption, but I have no confirmation on this.
