Here we have an article indicating the level of support the Scottish public has towards 'Safety Camera's'.
And also the level of intelligence apparent in the partnership.

It could be a never ending spiral. It might end up with cameras watching the cameras watching the camera if the GATSO destroyers take out the CCTV first so they can take out the GATSO without being filmed.

Better to be safe, and remember to order that long range ex-IRA mortar. Should get all the cameras in a oner.

But I don't understand. With such a large percentage of the population supporting the cameras surely the MoP will stand on guard, in order to save childrens lives....

Or, will we have cameras watching the cameras which are watching the cameras which are watching the cameras...

Good to know that they will happily spend money on this.

They have -each extra camera (even to watch a camere etc) is making things safer ,or so thet say.
Pity theory and practice don't tally.

What's the power consumption of a Gatso? What's the power consumption of a CCTV box to watch the Gatso?

Maybe you could get them on a micro-level environment argument.

Although... wait, then they'd claim that since the cars are going slower the camera benefits the environment. And they'd deny that drivers just slow down and speed up again.

Or a revised use of FIDO (for those old enough to know what it was) - Streaky

Have a half globe cctv camera device near me watching over 3 Truvelos all withing about 200 meters of each other, 2 one side of the road, 1 the other.

The CCTV is a small unit at the top of a tall lampost affair. Difficult to blind being an all round view I would imagine.

Well, difficult until the trees grow around it in the summer. I would think at least one of the cameras it is there to watch would be rather well masked at that point.

Yep.

I've rarely managed more than 25 along there in either direction for the last couple of years. And then the people ahead brake as they approach the camera.

I have yet to discover why that stretch needs 3 cameras - the accident records up to the point they were installed just don't warrant them.

LOL! Description - dark clothes, medium height, medium build, face mask. Seen running away very quickly....
Parliament will probably vote the death penalty back in just for speed camera damage crimes.

Not paying your taxes or preventing the country collecting your taxes? Is that bordering on treason?
To the gallows!!!

A quote from another story about this though:

The partnership is also the body that was last year responsible for creating the perfect job - riding a motorcycle around the Borders chasing speeding motorists, with no requirement to pull them over or speak to them.

A few weeks ago I saw that someone had stuffed an old washing-up glove into a scamera's aperture thus rendering it useless. It was still there a week later.

Isn't there some government guidance that CCTV of GATSO should only be installed if there have been 3 or more DSD (Destroyed or Seriously Damaged)during the previous 12 months?

Would that be adhered to as strictly as the requirement for KSI's on the stretch of road?

If the M4 can include a suicide jump from a bridge these could include an instant camera dropped by a child at a picnic in a nearby beauty spot.

Well there's no room in prison, and these heinous crimes couldn't be covered by community service, so capital punishment it is then.
