Snow Tyres

The Sunday Times at the weekend suggested we should fit snow (cold weather) tyres on all cars. The suggestion was that normal road compounds stay too hard and cause problems, let alone the advantage that the tread pattern would give.

Come on then has anyone fitted snow tyres to their pride and joy? Ever? Considering what some of us lavish on our cars in terms of lotions, potions and magical gimmickery, do any of us do this fairly standard seasonal 'real world performance' mod.

i got an Uncle in Aberdeenshire, non cerb owner, who runs cold weather tyres nearly all year. Standard proceedure for everyone round those parts, in his opinion.

Also, IIRC reading of a PHer who had drvien to the Alps (I think) in the snow said it was a breeze...are they still on here?

My old Cerb was driven to the Alps by its owner prior to me (James on PHeads). I was on 18s, with Olhins and normal S02s.
William Ball (TVRlovet or summing like that) drove his to Scottish ski resorts (if I remember properly).

I have used Pirelli SnowSport for several years on my 306 and there is a distinct, tangible difference in grip. I just can't find anyone to supply me with 225/35, 255/35 snow tyres !

But then again, I haven't tried Micheldever yet !
