Anyone riding tonight?

Yeah I cant stand the gym these days - I dont mind weights but I cant stomach the aerobic machines now that I have the great outdoors on a mtb. I tend to do about 20 mins aerobic at the gym before I cant take the boredom anymore! Might go to body pump where you do weights with aerobic exercise so as to help ensure that all my muscles get a work out not just legs, triceps, shoulders and chest per the mtb (ie lower back and biceps).

Obviously not as hardy as others on here. I leave my riding to the weekends during the daylight. Look forward to the summer when evening biking is back on the menu.
Get so bored of the gym and swimming pool during the winter months

Grab yourself a set of decent lights and discover a whole new aspect to mountain biking - its a right laugh!
Night riding is great !! Just watch out for badgers !
I bought some great lights - Light & Motion HID Xenon Lithium Ion (not the Ultra). RRP = £425 ! I got them from the states for just over £200 via ebay. There are some cheaper options - do a search on Bike HID etc to see what it comes up with eg

Dont know what these are like though!
I dont think you can get away with less than £150 and be able to ride at night like it is day time. IMHO
I bought mine from Sportsduster on ebay.

How much are we talking for a decent set of lights to go XC off road?

Don't logs and ditchs just appear from nowhere and hurl you at the scenery?
Sometimes!

*Disclaimer* Its mostly wooded singletrack 'round here.

Damn you all! I can feel my credit card trying to escape from my wallet again
Maybe wait until I am paid and then have a look to see what I want.
Are the bright HID lights suitable from the road too?

Mine are ok as the lights mount allows the light to be pivoted from side to side. I simply swivle to the left OR direct at a car if they dont turn their lights down (and then they soon do!).
Night time riding is the best BUT only with very very good lights. I reckon I go faster down some bits than I do during the day as (IMHO) the shadows thrown for bumps n jumps ahead of you are different to day time and they disguise how rugged the land is. Only slightly mind you but enough to make me go faster down bits I pootle on during the day.
Just got back from a 2 hr ride. Great weather for a ride, one of my best for ages. Only spoilt by the number of trees and branches slowing progress. Came across a car full of teenagers smoking dope!

I am aware the battery is there but for night riding it's fine.
