Hi everyone, been a couple of years but feeling the compulsion to return to Tuscan ownership. Previously had a 2000-X Tuscan which was lovely but now I've got an M3 (sorry
)
Pretty sure I want a Mk2 now and have searched for buying advice but with no luck. So I am appealing to you lovely boys a girls for as much advice as possible - pros and cons, Mk1 vs Mk2, 3.6 vs 4.0 - basically everything and anything you've got.

If its any help i have now had 3 tuscans.
1. 2001 4lt, Good
2. 2002 4ltr (s), V Good
3. 2006 (s) convertable, Fantastic
They are all good cars, but i must say the convert is fantastic, the build quility is second to none,
I think the 2002 (s) was the fastest though as it had the close ratio gearbox.
When thinking of buying go for the best you can afford, at the moment they are silly cheap, so grab yourself a bargain. Gordon.

I heard the tuscan has never gone quicker than it did in 2003. Certainly that's reflected in the autocar test times when an '03 tuscan S posted 0-100 in 8.08 secs. That's properly stupid fast, even allowing for the use of a 'press' engine. For reference the best Saggy time ('05 press engine) did the ton in 8.5.
Therefore the tuscan 2 S should still go very well which just as well as I bought one last year, but hopefully with increased durability. I think the later cars benefitted from the Sagaris handling set up, albeit with the narrower track but it shares the bilstein dampers and wheels and tyres that work so well on the Sagaris. Buildwise I can confirm is very good. My car is an '06 and there's a noticeable difference in build quality to the (already good) '05 Sagaris I had before it.
Earlier tuscan 2s had the digital dashpod which, apparently needs to be tweaked to read in direct sunlight. Most have had this done by now.
My personal view is that the Tuscan targa provides more than enough full 'convertible' feeling so I didn't feel that I'd be gaining a lot from going to the full convertible. While it looks A1 with the roof down, I prefer the looks of the targa with the roof up. Personally I think the targa roof design is a thing of genius, as is the car overall. I loved my Sagaris, it was a fantastic thing to own but the tuscan is just an all time classic piece of design and british motoring history. It comes massively recommended by me.

Never had anything other than an vert S2 so can't compare but, have to say it has been and continues to be a great car. Other than maybe a Gallardo Convertible (three times the price) it is all I need or want.

Had mine for ten months now and it has been nothing but great, no problems other than new car niggles, go for it!

The latter is better performance, better handling, and better build quality. Both gave enormous satisfaction. The minor quirks do still remain the same though. So depending on wallet methinks either would surfice.

Hi Vinnie, i was told that you had to order the close ratio gearbox as an extra and the cost was £1500, mybe i heard wrong and mine has a c.r.g. Gordon
