Best new battery?
Discussion
Cheapest option I've found are Bosch batteries at Costco in reading - £47 + VAT. I've been down the same path with my bike, where a crap battery can mean a dead starter clutch at the cost of £600. I found an Odyssey battery for the bike (£90 delivered but US Military spec versus about £70 for a normal one). In a car size they're very expensive (£165 for a battery suitable for an Aston Martin). There's also Optima batteries as a possible.

Other option is to grab one of the calcium ones from Halfrauds. 4 year guarantee. think they're about 70 - 80 quid, but i expect to get my full use of it...
We've got one in the regular motor and it's been fine. Strong enough to help spin the Cerb over when needed too. I couldn't find one in the necessary size when I looked though.

600 pounds for a starter? someone's having your pants down big style.
I'd also recommend Halfrauds. Over the xmas didnt drive the Cerb for 2 weeks and accedently left the cabin light on. Since getting in, trickle charging for 1 day(which isn't actually enough) it started and charged up.Now its still as powerful as new. Also, if you run into problems Halfords do a free replacement batt if it is less than 3 yrs old... cashback!

No Joolz, not the starter motor, the sprag clutch, which sits between the starter motor and the crank. The story goes as follows. The battery starts dying, the starter motor kicks and it fooks the sprag clutch. No one will sell you the parts you need from a secondhand lump and new from a dealer the parts are allegedly £600. It's a bit of a joke when I've seen complete motors on ebay with only 4k on them for £750 and no takers. Anyway, my point was a decent battery is worth it, even it if seems a bit dear. What I'm wondering is a similar uprated battery actually be worth it in the Cerb, or is it a waste of cash?

I think it's definitely worth investing in an uprated battery than the one that is currently recommended for the Cerb. Had I not had the three year warranty through Halfords then I would have definitely looked elsewhere for a higher rated battery. Interestingly when Halfords realised that I was on my 3rd battery FOC in three years they had a look to see if they could find an uprated one in their range that would fit the Cerb, but unfortunately they didn't have one.
Just bought a battery from CostCo - they listed the Cerb in their charts so I got the specified battery.
Looks on the tall side to me, will keep you all posted. (Good price though, 39 quid for the top spec)
Editied to say it's a Bosch

I assume the bit that's actually got is a stripped cog. For much less than that you could hardface, or even get a local engineering firm to build one out of adamantium. I've never heard of an adamantium cog failing.
hello
as my battery is on the way out i bought a type 072 from Halfords last night but have realised that the terminals arent recessed into the battery itself whereas i have a feeling that they are on the one thats fitted at the moment.
Can someone reassure me that i've bought the right one ?
Cheers
