HTML Advice.....
Discussion
I've got a page or two in progress at the moment. I have found it quite convenient to script stuff that loads various pages into separate IFRAMEs. I can then just have one main page for layout, and draw stuff in to it using the script.
The way it is, I could just have five or six main pages, with the layout, but it's a pain to keep it all updated.
I guess if I had CGI, which I figure I wont, I could have the various templates server side, and combine them into a final client page.
The trouble is that in IE, I get warnings about the scripts I have written, compromising security. Obviously, I could enable them on my computer, but that wouldn't solve the problem for anyone viewing my pages.
Is there a workaround, or a better approach, that allows me to have a single page with all of the big formatting (overall layout), but avoids the security warnings?

I don't really know anything about PHP. I doubt it's that hard to figure out, but it's never seemed that it would do anything useful for me. If it could sort this poblem out, I'll give it a look.
It's a personal/business website. Starting small, it realyl has to be reasonably professional, which is why the security warning is a problem.
Does anyone have a good online (free?) reference for PHP?

I know a bit about CSS, but I don't think it would do what I'm thinking of, without the problem that I'm speaking of. Essentially click link load three pages into three frames on the origninal page. Maybe it would work if the loaded pages were simple, but they're all deep tables and stuff.

I don't either. I've just researched for that function for my site in order to get rid of frames. You'll just place that piece of PHP-code into your html code (provided your webserver does PHP), and rename that *.html-file to *.php, so the server executes the code.

Yeah.... I have just twigged that this is essentially a CGI scripting language. I'll have to find out if I'm likely to have the PHP software on the server, because I'm pretty sure I'll not have CGI-bin, which is really what I would want for other reasons.
I think I might put up with the pain of maintaining two or three identical pages, and if it becomes possible migratedirect to CGI-bin when I can.
