Selling a Boxster
Discussion
Guys and girls of Boxster land.
I need some advice on selling my Boxster (2000). What i would like to know are general things like; whens the best time to sell, what kinda price should i be asking for and if there are any tips that you can recommend. My insurance comes to an end in May and i would like to sell it before then.
The details of the car are:
Guards Red,2000 model, 2.7l Boxster. about 17K miles on the clock. No track days, CD player and sound upgrade, black leather int. no air con and only a 5speed box. no computer, and taxed until Sep. I think that it needs to go in for a M.O.T also.
Any ideas/tips will be mucho preciated!

PH classifieds is a good effective place to start.
Very cheap as well.

Edited to say Top Marques is also very popular and may be worth looking at. I don't know their advertising rates, but I'm sure they state them in the magazine.

I would say as well that if you really wish to sell the car then price it accordingly. Its amazing how many cars seem to be offered at only a small discount on forecourt price when its a private sale - given that a private sale connot include dealer backup and so on.
Get it valued for a trade in against a new car. Take that value and the forecourt price for a car equivalent to your own. That difference is going to be split between you and your purchaser. Don't be too greedy as to the share you want of it - it'll just put people off.
Price realistically.
If you want to avoid time-wasters why not try an ad in Porsche Post?

I'd agree, be realistic. When I sold My Griffith the first person I saw bid me 14k, I wanted 15,500(slightly below all others on sale & was in good cond, fsh etc etc) , I then turned down 14,250, 14,500, and guess what, I sold it for 14k about 4/5 weeks later.
