Opinions on respray

Right, this time I'm serious!
I'm selling the Cerb
Reasons being that I could do with the money tied up in it, and I just don't drive her anymore. I'll certainly buy another when I have more time and spare money...
However, how much is she worth is the eternal question? particulary with the current state of the paintwork.
It's a 96 4.2 in faded rosso pearl. Full engine rebuild around 2000 miles ago, new gearbox, new clutch, new radiator, recent master and slave cylinder, just under 50k on the clock, nitron suspension, all receipts for the past few years I've had her and looked after by a respected indy. 17" RL's and original 16" wheels included in the sale. TVR number plate, decat, sports exhaust, etc....
The only problem is the respray, for a full respray in red glow i'm looking at around £2.5. My choices are:
A) claim for this on the insurance which will end up costing me around £900 after excess and not being able to get any money back pro-rata on the policy. (I've already checked this out and the insurance company have said they will pay, just need to confirm)
B) pay for this myself, which will cost £2.5k
C) not pay for it and take the money off the price of the sale.
Any ideas as to what my cerb would be worth with and without the respray?
My gut feel is to go with option A and i'll be calling the insurance company next week to confirm unless convinced otherwise, but I thought I'd get a couple of opinions from you guys...

I would surmise a 96 Cerb should fetch £10-13K, with a rebuild it should be at the higher end of that.
There will be some, that are looking for shiny paint work above all else, who wouldn't give you more than £8-9k for it regardless if its perfect every where else. There are others who would look to the chassis and running gear years ahead of considering the paint work. I fall into the latter group and wouldn't even bother taking viewings from the former, but that's me.
As already said its a 11 year old car and will need something doing and a £1k front end blow over would be factored in when if viewed. I maintain that if everything else is good a £12k advert & £11.5k offer is what I would be looking for, poss slightly more.

I think you're right, it's all down to the type of buyer that turns up.
As someone who's been financially rear ended by A Cerb... The thought of putting a bit of paint right is pittance in the grand scheme of day to day running costs :. That said, mines worn me down to the point of laughing off the thought of a new clutch or engine rebuild, so I'm probably the wrong person to be giving a view

Not at the moment, as it's in with Automedon having an MOT and getting quoted for the respray.
It's very noticable though, any closer than about 10ft and you will see that the bonnet and roofline are closer to silver in some places than the original red.

Indeed. Hence my difficulty.
I was going to put her up for around £13k after the respray, which I think should be easyish to get considering the then perfect paintwork and all the mechanical work i've had done.
If I didn't get a respray she would probably go up at £11k, which would be a bargain in my opinion, but I know it would be a much more difficult sell. I'd need a buyer who was either blind, or knew Cerbera's intimately so as not to be put off.

Need a front end respray on mine at some point. It looks awful to me but when I see other Cerbs out there with similar stonechips I marvel at how well yellow masks them.
So, not only the fastest colour but also the best for hiding stonechips

Looks good. Automedon have recommended Red Glow, which from the pictures I have seen is a bit "punchier" than nightfire pearl.
I've just had my Rosso Pearl Cerb resprayed at Austec. Cost was £3.5k and the insurance picked up the bill following a tiny scrape in the door in a car park somewhere. Cost me just my excess and time. Austec provide a standard letter from the paint manufacturer stating that the paint cannot be matched and a full respray is required. Again, my insurance company agreed without argument.
Rosso Pearl is now on it's 3rd revision and subsequently is a lot more stable in pigment and less prone to fade. It is a much deeper red than the original Rosso Pearl and actually looks as stunning as ever. I'd recommend that you stay with the colour as originally Rosso Pearl was an expensive paint option - I know cause I choose it on mine!
Having lived with old Rosso the fade can be really bad especially on the roof and could put buyers off, regardless of any reduction in the cost. And any buyer doing their homework will know how much a Rosso Pearl respray is going to cost.

I have to say, that is a fantastic looking Cerb! And obviously, Austec have a damn good sprayer working for them

Yup, so it will make a difference to your next premium.
Mine was £1500 to respray half the bonnet and the whole drivers side on mine.
