Have been away on business all week and have just got back to discover that some f*ckwit has sliced the rear screen on my Chim.

Does anyone know whether the screen can be replaced separately (and ideally someone near Edinburgh that could do it!), or whether I will need to replace the whole hood?

Thanks

Does your insurance classify it as a glass (ie no NCB claim) ?

Absolute little shizers, I bet you would have loved to have caught the sod doing it.
Makes me mad whenever I hear things like this have happened!!!!
The screen can be replaced though without much trouble, its just machine stitched in and sealed.
Can't help with any recomendations in your area though.
Anyone in your street seen anybody looking suss?

You can certainly get a new screen stitched in, although allegedly to do the job properly the hood has to be removed anyway.

Some quotes from the yahoo 'tvr-scotland' group forum, sounds like he's your man ...

"I bought a chimaera this year, and the same as you, the rear
screen came away from the hood. We had a complete new hood made, and
the guy is next to Ikea in Edinburgh. He made an excellent job. If
he sounds any good, I can get my husband to get details for you. I
think that he charged us £600 for the complete job"

------------

"Robert, that'll be Willie Ramsay the car upholsterer, he made up some
carpets for me ages ago, and I have seen other full retrims he has
done - he's a star. Tel No is 0131 440 0555"

------------

"yep hes the man he's be one them as long as i have now simply no ne better to do the job. noel V8"

I had mine replaced as the stitching was coming away and a gap was getting bigger. A soft top specialist locally did mine. He had to take the whole folding section off the car as it had to go into a heavy duty sewing machine to stitch the new screen in.

I live the other end of the country, but last summer I had a new rear screen fitted and it cost £250, and yes the hood had to come off. Try your local vehicle trimmers. Good luck.
