Hi all. I have the cdr 22 stereo in my 996 (2000) and was thinking of upgrading. I have speakers in dash board and two in rear panels at back ( none in doors). If I wanted to spend say 500 quid would it be a noticable improvement. Would that be enough for 4 replacement speakers a better stereo and fitting?

Any thoughts welcome

thanks

Im pretty sure the Becker Mexico retails at about £250. It looks OEM and has full Ipod functionality.

Use the rest of the money to upgrade the speakers (and perhaps get a woofer hidden somewhere) and the sound will be 100 times better.

Soovy had a Mexico fitted to his 996 and really rates them

Stick with the CDR22, use its pre outs on the back, upgrade with an amp and external changer.

You've got lots of options, but don't change the head unit, you'll not buy a better system for 5, believe me.
PM me Monday.

I had this one - amazing. Was £400. Original speakers are more than up to the job. Becker make the OEM equipment, I believe. Full remote Ipod and Bluetooth. CD, mp3 etc etc. Great piece of kit.

Not sure mate. Mine had a Sony system in it when I bought it, so I don't know if it replaces the CDR system - 2000 cars and before (IIRC) have a different set up to the new ones.

I know that Pikey is stuck with OEM equipment becuase of wiring and fibre optics (I think...)

Why not spend another £200/£300 and get the next one up in the range with sat nav built into it ?
Fits the same aperture.
Or another few hundred and you can have telephone module too .
