Maison blanche - numbered pitches?????
Discussion
I made some enquiries about this when I booked my tickets. The maps of the campsite from the ACO this year show individually marked (they weren't numbered) pitches and also the site deivided into a number of large zones. The consensus seems to be that you will be required to camp in the correct zone this year, but that they probably wont be enforcing the specific pitches. They may be saving that for '08. The only worry I have is that they may be marshalling people as they come onto the site to make sure everyone sticks to their fair share of space. This is a good thing, except i worry that if your group arrives separately you may not be able to pitch together.
Anyway, this is all speculation, I guess we'll find out in June. Just to be on the safe side my convoy has agreed that if we get separated on the way down we wont go to the campsite until we've all met up.
I have a copy of the map of Maison Blanche. If anyone wants a copy they can email me for it.
Cheers

As said the ACO have zoned MB and have allocated passes for each zone. The haven't though told people which zone they have been given in their allocation letter!
They say the pitches will be 35sqm but they haven't said how they will allocate them on the ground on arrival. I suspect that at the beginning of the week it will just be a free for all as they won't have enough bodies to get each group in the right place!
This raises problems for thoughs groups that buy tickets separately but want to camp together. It makes putting a set of tickets together from ebay a problem especially if the seller doesn't know which zone he is selling!
It may make sense for the early arrivals to take all of a groups passes (for the same zone) in case the ACO will only allow you to "save" space you can show a pass for. It's a pain to then have to meet others outside but will prob be the best bet for this year.
The ACO say pitches will be fully allocated in 2008....

Yes please - or can you post it on here? Cheers
You''ll have to help me out, can you email me and I will reply to the mail with the map. I can't see how to attach something to an email through PH.
Once you've got it, if you can figure out all this Photobucket nonsense, you could post it up on the thread if you like.

We (The ButtMonkeys) have been told that we are all grouped in Zone B. Not ideally where we wanted to be but them's the new rules....just need to get there as early as possible so that we can all get 'pitched' together.
This will be hilarious come the Thursday / Friday before the race when you turn up and your' zone' is already full.......

Funny you should say that I spoke to the ACO they say that "cannot" happen as they will control each pitch to ensure there IS space for EVERY ticket holder!!!!! also they say camping will only be in zoned area and only the correct number of tickets has been sold ie one pass for each space on the zoneing map.... role on June...
