stupid modern techology !
my car didn't come with lsd so i bought a jag one and had the crown etc swapped over from the old one and the rest rebuilt.
the carriers are just blasted and coated
the brakes are all new (the old ones were not good ....)
only about another hundred hours of work till the thing is back on the road
it'll still be a shed but at least it should drive a bit better

Yeah - well done. I have to do the same work too at some point. I take it you left the drive shafts it situ or did you take those out as well?

thanks for that david i wanted to fill the diff before sticking it all back together so i didn't have to bother checking the level with the wheels on the floor.Guess i'll just have to check it if it takes a bit more than the quoted 1.4.
as to the drive shafts - i took the whole lot out to refurb the shafts ,hubs etc and blast ,coat the wishbones
had some fun with oxy to free off the tracking adjustment bushes !
at least these cars are nice and simple to work on
exhaust mods next

It takes about 1.5L, fill to the bottom of the filler hole. I assume it's an LSD, so you need to make sure you've got compatible oil. While it's out, I'd suggest replacing the copper brake lines, and changing the rubber one for a braided item.

HP, at least you've got the later braced version of the diff. beam. Mind you, they're not unbreakable either

Are you connecting the rear brakes up in a different way? The after pic seems to show more brake lines than the before pic???

hi se
thebrakes used to feed from one caliper to the other with only one brake nipple on the rhs
i've just connected both pipes together and run two other lines from the nipples to remote bleed points so i can bleed the brakes without getting fluid everywhere
i bought a remote kit from wards for £30 and made some new pipes and a t piece
it's a mod done on jags where the nipples are hard to get at

Ah, OK understand now. Thanks for the info. Looks good and I can appreciate how much work goes into these things as I did a similar job on mine a couple of years back. I also fitted a LSD. Cheers Steve
