heated seats retrofit ?

is it possible to retrofit heated seats into a 996?

(I'm wondering whether the wiring is already there, but missing a "module" or suchlike?)

Very unlikely.
Seats must have some filaments beneath the leather,from the factory.
Change the seats possibly but them messing about with the wiring loom
