My father saw the opening to the Italian Job on the telly one day in January, 1976 and bought a white Miura SV the next day. The power of the tube. How I wish for 'Days like those' again.
I saw that film when I was about 8 yrs old, then spent the next 10 years waiting to be old enough to drive the road, which I have done now. No Miura yet though...
Also bought a Matt Munro 3CD boxset just for that track. (it was £3.99 at HMV)

Does that Miura still exist?
I don't know if the Italian Job car still exists but would be good to know where it is now. It would be interesting to know the story of the car that was smashed and whether it was one that was previously smashed before the film or indeed the same car. If you look at the wreckage that gets thrown over the side there is no engine in it.
The white SV my late father bought still exists and has been owned by its current owner for quite some time. I'd love to see it again or does anyone have any pics of it on here? The reg. is RYY 161K.

They (the film makers) found the smashed car in a scrapyard! Imagine that nowadays!

If you've still know the chassis number, you could try to find it at www.lamborghiniregistry.com
I'd love to know more about both the smashed car and the one Rossano Brazzi drives around the Alps into the tunnel. Does anyone have any more info on them?
Yes, I have seen the www.lamborghiniregistry.com website. The one my father owned is chassis 4830 and was allegedly owned by Elton John before my father according to the dealer we bought it from.

Sorry for the hijack Albert...

Yes, I have seen that. I know it exists and has been owned by its current owner for quite some time. I just wondered if anyone had any pics of it as I know it was owned by the renowned Lambo enthusiast Barry Robinson in the '80s. Perhaps one of its owners had taken it to some events like Goodwood for example????

theres a white miura in the carrera sport days thread on here, might be the same one...
Thanks Gumballer, it's not the one. That one is a standard Miura. You can tell from the windscreen surround which is black. On the S and SV the windscreen surround is chrome and the rear whels are bigger on the SV. Sorry for sounding like an annorak and to the author of this thread.

The Miura, wasn't a complete car. It was a styling buck, used by the design workshop and a crashed car's chassis.

Thanks for that, Simon. Very interesting, and also how they used the Lancia in place of throwing the DB4 over the side.
