I'm hoping somebody can help? I need to remove my fuel pump fuse to prime the oil pump on a serpentine engine, only problem is that the fuse box diagram in the owner's handbook doesn't list the fuel pump, and nor does the one in the bible?!

For reference, my fuse box looks like the one at the bottom of page 242 in the bible. Can anybody tell me which one needs to be removed please?

Not sure on the fuel pump fuse but there is a couple of relays in the loom in the footwell that control the fuel pump, pull these and the fuel pump should stop.

If in doubt pull the relay (I have labeled mine for this very purpose BTW) :- the punp circuit has the white/purple wires on mine

I put a pdf of my efi (in colour[ish]) on line which shows the fuse & relays (not got the main fuse on oops)

Hmmmm, no reference to which is the fuel pump relay in either book either?! Could you point me in the right direction again please, I had thought of this one after reading every page referring to fuel pump in the bible and seen the relay mentioned a lot, but again, not located!

Dave, have you tried the bible method for priming the serp oil pump yourself? Does it work ok?

I have oil cooler take off, so I can just dump oil down a nice big pipe, sorry.

From what I've read, the most ingenious method to try IMHO is to remove the oil pressure sender, and squeeze oil in that way. You can try the other methods, as long as you have the fuel disconnected (and the coil) you wont damage the engine. I always do this to get oil pressure before starting, as I leave the car frequently for long periods without use whilst travelling...

If you dont want to squeeze, its always useful to keep some threaded joints to connect pipes & let gravity do the hard work (cleaner also :-). But I guess thats me getting into paranoid anorack territory ~ just as someone mentioned earlier if you prepare for a problem it will never happen (making Sods Law work for you in my book)

Dave, I found the relays loose in the footwell next to the battery and from your wiring diagram have identified and removed the fuel pump relay... I'm off to remove the plugs, leads and coil connection now to try and get it to self prime.

I'll have a look at the squeezing way too, but depends on what access looks like.

My car is a pre serp car, I borrowed a oil pump priming tool from the local land rover specialist(basically as distributor without a cam drive) as didn't fancy spinning the engine over with no pressure.
