you may have better luck if you call Leven. I'm pretty sure I also saw an older style alloy dash in the office at Austecs - might be worth dropping them a line

Aright Chimiain,

Ive got a silver JVC head unit in mine which matches the rims on the dials, however my dash is still the standard but even just changing the head unit transformed my dash.

Your not far from me so you would be welcome to come and have a look.

Thanks for that, good to see you have the best colour chimera,

where did you get the JVC head unit from? and does it have a i-pod input thingy?

would be good to see it in situ

thanks

I got it from halfords a while back now and had it in my previous car, i think JVC have made an upgraded version and it has an ipod conection on it but dont hold me to that! The model of mine is JVC KDLHX501. If not there are some really good Alpine units at the minute and i know they do an ipod conection.

Ive just had some paint work done on my car and from talkin to the lad you've had your car done there to-David Sneap?

I looked into changing my dashboard aswell and if you wanted HHC to do it its gona cost ya!

IIRC Leven reckon on 7 hrs labour to do it. It's not a hard task to do yourself if you have a few hours spread over a weekend.

I have this Alpine unit, it is the dogs bits. No box to hide away as it has a direct cable connection and is faster than the original units with loads of the ipod info displayed in the headunit.

Remote control is easy to use it you decide to buy it and I have mine discreetly wired so the ipod is total hidden from view.

You can get the low down on the full specs here www.alpine-europe.com/content/english/a2324.det.CDE-9850Ri_CD---MP3---WMA-Receiver.htm

If you've got an alloy dash this would look great, its a sony CDX f750, dont think they make it any more so you'll have to track one down second hand (i'm keeping mine). plays mp3 cds, but you need an extra box to have full control of the ipod

Just enquired about that one - it turns out to be a Griff dash. They can do a plain or brushed aluminium dash for you, but they haven't got an early Chimaera dash in for the measurements ATM. Cost would be around £150 , which - assuming that includes VAT - would be about the same as the Leven ones.

do it yourself, it is a fairly easy DIY job, as long as you are careful not to scratch your nice leather and swap everything over logically....I have a tip for swapping over the small lamp holders for the ign indicators etc email me if required...
