Which "mods" are worth having?
Discussion
should be a TVR owner within a couple of weeks! so thought i'd get ready to spend some pennies!
as i've had a subaru before im no stranger to car mods....i was thinking i'd start with a bonnet scoop and some neons?..........kidding! dont need to ban me yet!
so what are the worthwhile (tactfull) additions?
i've found the site with all the metal bits (leven sp?)
and i've seen mod-wise- fan bits, starter heat sheild and boot opener look good ideas?
any others bits i should add....certainly keen to add something that will help with it being a daily drive so are the mod-wise things, etc worth it?
T
ps- i also gather the "bible" book is worth getting?

Have fitted mod-wise cooling fan mod and starter motor shield which work very well. Have all Leven bits including new gear knob. Deffo improve the car and all easy to fit. Then a CD player and rear speakers. Renovo kit for cleaning / sealing roof and Hindsight for rear screen. Then away you go.
I have the 2 stage kit and an override. i had the override first which was ok i guess (for london driving). but temp would swing to 100 and then back to 80 plus when the override was on...2 stage kit makes the temp gauge more constant...by bringing the half speed fans on when a certain (adjustable temp) is reached.
Since fitting this my override switch only brings on the half speed fans...
but I 'll have a poke around at some point to rectify that...
Alot of the cars I saw had the Leven bits on, so that might swing it for you if you see 2 similar cars.
Oh, and you'll also need a nice pair or Oakleys too...

The thinking is that the over-ride would allow you to switch the fans on earlier to keep the general air temp under the bonnet temp down, for ewxample sat in a traffic jam in summer the engine bay can get pretty hot just sitting there. The two spped fan does this by cutting in at half speed at a lower temp and the fans provide a draft of cool(er) air going through the engine bay even when sat still. Rich...
AllTorque said: I've got the override fitted but honestly cannot see the point of it. If the car gets hot, the fans come on automatically, and stay on until cool enough to turn off. Why preempt this by putting them on manually?
Their is a criticality detector that operates. The otter switch will only fail when you are in a traffic queue in the outside lane and boxed in by 38 tonners so that you can't get out. Mean while the engine is getting hotter and hotter and you need to stop the engine but daren't because you can't get to the hard shoulder and don't want to be crushed by an irate French peace loving driver....
If you have an override you can switch it on and restore cooling at a flick of a switch.

Zertec make many bits both cosmetic and mechanical. They even quote a hard top though why anyone would fit one beats me. Their ali bits are more tactile. The web site isn't up to much though. They have been promising an upgrade for some time now. Worth a look.
