...hasen't Hammond lost a few ponuds since the crash!!!

On a more serious note. Battery died at the weekend, and once the support vechile arrived (my fianance's, Ford Ka and jump leads) and eventually got enough juice to start her up...there was a rather disconcering heavy tapping noise a la worn camshaft sound, which evenutally settled off 5 mins after getting it fired up....

Its the first time I have noticed it. Its off the road now for some tidy up work and I'll do a 12K service to it.

mileage is 32500 with plenty of oil and pressure looks fine from the gauge.

Any sort of RV8 excentricities that his could be...and please no comments that warrant a "that'll cost £000's mate"..

They make horrible sounds when the manifold gaskets blow, or spark is going to ground instead of plug. Dont let it keep you awake before you have investigated ~ unless you really want a new cam :-)

Exhaust manifold gasket - once warmed up will stop, sometimes ..

Tappets needing some time to reach hydraulic level required ..

Camshaft knackered ... This won't go away though and will get worse ...

Easy to whip out the inlet manifold and have a look though ....
