Hello,wavey:
Just to let you all know I picked up my first TVR on Saturday. It’s a T350c 2004 in metallic black!! Bought from Drive Style in Harrogate.
What an awesome car I haven’t stopped smiling, I was even excited about driving to work this morning

There are a few niggles that are going to get sorted soon hopefully by the dealer (Speedo needle don’t work, heater fan stopped working, the head lights need adjusting).
How do you fill these things up with out showering yourself and the car in petrol
?? Any advice welcome.
The noise, looks and performance make up for ALL the niggles!!!!!!!!!!

Sam
Very smart move - I am sure you will enjoy it - I know I love mine.
Yes they get the odd niggle but they more than make up for that with the huge grin on the way to anywhere you are going.
The fuel thing is a fine art. I (mostly) manage to avoid splashes by only putting the pump a very sort way in and filling very slowly. If you stand at a certain angle you can see whether there is sufficient space to let the air out as the fuel goes in. I still get the odd surprise though!
Enjoy the car!

Welcome to the fold - I'm sure you 'll be very happy with it.
Re fuel - fill it very slowly but make sure you clean the area thoroughly if you do spill petrol - I still do after 5 months of ownership, it's just one of those things.
Another thing I'd advise it to leave the filler cap very very slightly open otherwise you can fill the inside of the car with petrol fumes which will give you a really bad headache on a long blast.
Most of all enjoy :driving

Oops! should have looked at your Profile first.... Samnorthy, Harrogate... lives in Pembrokeshire - can't really expect you to be at the Manchester Regional meet!!

Thanks for your kind replies
Well my TVR experience I so far a bit hot and cold. Coming out of work last nigh the car would not start!! mad:
I had to bump start it down the car park (much to the amusement of my colleagues). And if that wasn’t enough it started to over heat when I got home, reaching 110deg C!!!! yikes:
I’m not happy, had to get a lift into work this morning. The dealer has been good though, they are sending a courtesy car and trailer down to Pembrokeshire to collect it and hopefully sort every thing out.
mappleya,
I regularly travel up to Chester and Leeds so would be able to meet up, I will try and get to some of the meets, does any one know if there is a meet in Wales??

I feel for you buddy when I got mine it was no end of bother but at the moment (I am going to regret saying this) it is blinding, stick with it, when its good its GOOD....
Re: Petrol filler, when first showing some friends how you put petrol in, which lets face it is an occassion I bloody soaked them in fuel, they were not amused.. anyway when opening now I discreetly cover the whole with kitchen roll (already in the car) to avoid it spraying out on the body work.. Hope that helps
Good luck with the niggles hope its nothing serious

Re petrol spray, have the fuel tank breather pipes checked by your dealer.
Can I assume that you don't get this and it is in fact fixable ??

Petrol - after 3 yrs in all conditions, I've come across a few issues with filling, but can be avoided - it's worth it as the filler is such a unique and clever design admired by all, IMO.
To avoid spray from a pressurised tank, always open just a fraction for a second which lets air pressure out but not petrol (which comes with it if it's opened more fully!).
Fill with nozzle pointing towards about 9 or 10 O'clock - but this might vary between different T350's - and only at about 2/3rd max speed. Gives you time to admire your car
Shut the hatch while you fill, to avoid a car full of petrol smell. There shouldn't be any smell of petrol in the car when driving along, if so it needs investigating. After filling, the filler needs closing completely or there's a chance of rainwater leaking in and contaminating the petrol.
Then ... hopefully you'll need frequent fill-ups, which will prove you're enjoying the car
