Just to help me out to ensure I dont do the wrong thing. Am going to cleam the afm with brake cleaner to see if it sorts out the car running richer than richie rich. Can someone quickly point out the bobbin to pull out of the doodar?

sits between the big rubbery pipe and the airbox, near the airbox. has a lead plugged into it and when you remove it it'll have a fine mesh inside it. Make sure you put it back in right way round, should be an arrow showing the flow of air through it to help.

http://tbyrne.com/GTO/gtoinduction.ht - pics of assorted replacment mafs on here so you know what it looks like.

www.jhp.com.au/manuals/JHP_MAF_Pipe_Fitting_Instructions.pdf - how to replace the maf pipe, should point you in right direction.

cheers, I thought it was that and you are right it does show direction of flow. Still I'll give it a clean but seriously considering going mafless now just need to really find out what the pros/cons of it are. It isnt going to be done as a performance mod more a case of not wanting a dodgy afm screwing things up (as at present)

just to add, the mesh, does one remove that or leave it in situ and just spray the cleaner over everything? Or remove mesh, clean mesh and also teh sensor?

Thanks

Dodgy o2 sensors might also cause rich condition. Especially if you get it at or near idle.

it was right across the range but interestingly I did get an o2 sensor fault once that seemed to settle down....
