Need to do a full restore of a system running Windows 2000 and SQL 2000, its been backed up via BackupExec 9.1, its being restored to the same hardware. Any ides on how to do it?

Sometimes you have a disk to boot from to do it, sometimes you need to build a bare system and restore into that.

Do you have an OBDR compatible tape drive? That's usually the easiest way.

Put tape in drive, cold boot server while holding down the eject button on the drive and let it do it's stuff. Easy peasy.

If not, install OS into a temporary directory, install tape SW, restore tape database from tape and then restore OS etc.

In simple terms... hehe

Was Backup Exec installed on this server or another machine?

I remember you saying.... I've never forgiven the bloody Veritas phone system....

40 minutes on hold, the clock ticks past 5 and slings me out with a "Thank you for calling, our support hours are 9:00 till 5:00 Monday to Friday".

I know you bastids, I've been hanging on since 4:20 banghead
