Hallo to all,

I need some advise about what I have to exspect when I see a car with a delaminating windscreen. Does this mean that a replacement is needed due to upcoming leaks or is it just a "cosmetic" question?

Just seal as best you can to deflect water ingress. Cosmetically a bit of paint can cover it up, or if you are anal several have used films to cover (available from windscreen specialists). There have been plenty of discussions on here & Griff forums in the past.

Well IMO its a cosmetic thing, I had it and changed the screen but they didnt do a very good job as they reused the old screen rubber. So unless you can get a screen and new rubbers and a good fitter my advise is leave it.

Strange - in my experience if your existing original rubber seals are good they are a better fit than the new ones which don't seal very well round the corners - stiffer rubber!

Many thanx for your help-really appreciated. So, it is nothing really to worry about as it does not mean that the windscreen has to be replaced as long as I am not worried about the look.

By the way did not realised that there has been already lots of discussion about. Did not find it in the archive.

The search isnt very friendly :-)

Try "windscreen de-lamination", all words, all dates in the Griff & Chim sections:

It'll keep you quiet all evening reading :-)

Not sure how relevant they all are but
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=58450&f=8&h=0&hw=windscreen+milkiness
seemed to jog most of my memories of various threads.

Note: an extremely useful contribution by Jigs, what a star!
