Has anyone any tips for replacing the head gaskets on the Rover lump (it's the RR, not the Vitesse...phew) I assume that it's DIYable? I've neglected to do anything about it for months, and the cars been sat when really it should be up to its door handles in mud.
Engine is a 3.5 with EFI and a chronic over heating issue!

So you are positive it is the head gasket?
Have you tested the gases from the radiator?
Head gasket change should not be difficult. You may find it easier to pull the engine as it does your back in trying to reach over when the engine is in.
Don't forget to check the cam when you are there as they are prone to wear but again not difficult to replace.
Have you thought about dropping a second hand engine in? May be cheaper.

Not tested the gases, but it's pressurising the cooling system. I've been though most of the possible options, but I'm 99% it's HGF. At idle it's fine, but under any load it'll over heat. TBH, an engine swap had occurred to me - though there is an element of better the devil you know. I'll have to have a think about how to proceed...

Why do you say phew it's not a Vitesse? I only ask 'cos I have a car with a Vitesse engine in. Sorry, I can see the possible confusion; I'm glad it's not MY Vitesse, because I've just thrown a load of cash at it to put it back on the road (it's been in dry storage for 10 years).
