Relevant to E46,E53,E87,Z4 with DVD navigation iv.

I have found out recently that you can now change the view of your navigation.
The screen you are used too is vertical view looking down at a map and vehicle position, well now you can get the perspective view as you see with the professional nav systems (CCC) on the E60 etc or similar to TOMTOM etc.The map turns to horizontal so you follow the road at ground level with the sky and clouds in view-a much better view.

It doesnt take long to do at a stealer, about 10 minutes so shouldnt cost millions-I did one free today as we couldnt find any book time for it.

All that needs to be done is to have the latest software loaded into the DVD nav drive(this a disc supplied to us by BMW-it needs to be NAV software disc Version 26 or higher-we're on V28 now). This process takes 6 minutes ish.

Then we have to go into the secret service menu in the on board monitor, turn the perspective view on and thats it.When you put in a destination, you can then select the view you want....simple.

Your local stealer may not know about it as it isnt documented by BMW,so if they look at you blankly you can tell them how to do it.

This will only work with DVD navigation and not the early CD version mk iii-if you look at the front of the navigation unit it will say DVD-if it doesnt then its not DVD.
Also,if the screen when you first turn it on says T19 as opposed to the BMW logo then it wont work either-but these are rare.

Any BM's that come my way for service/repair will be done automatically-no charge.

I actually find the perspective view more confusing, and as adjacent street names are no longer displayed I have switched back to the good ol' 2D view. Just IMHO of course.
