Another OPC question - prices....

Not sure why I'm risking another question, as my last one turned into a six-page flamefest, but here goes.
Having decided to go for a Cayenne S, I'm currently hunting around for one to my desired spec. Once this is dealt with, I shall also be considering a 996 of some flavour. My local OPC has been very courteous and helpful, and I have even had several responses to questions direct from Porsche GB which suprised me. One of note, which I have kept was the concept that I could take a private or indy purchased car into the OPC for a checkover which, assuming it passed, would then allow me to put a full Porsche warranty on it. Good news methinks.
However, being the cautious type with a brand I have little experience of, I am tempted to buy from a dealer. The thing is, for a Cayenne S (and quite possibly for other models, I haven't checked) the dealer markup seems ridiculous. For a normal £30k car, I would expect private sale at £27-28k, indy at £30k and main dealer £30-32 or so. It would seem an equivalent Cayenne S is going to be somewhere north of £40k!
The best car I have found is at an indy, who have already offered off their own back to take the car to an OPC to have the check done before I commit, which would obviously give me peace of mind. Once again, assuming it passes, with the £900 for the Porsche warranty, that would put me in the car for over ten thousand pounds less than a dealer price. What on earth am I missing here, or are they just wandering around with a ludicrous markup?

Therein lies my plan, was just concerned there was some as-yet undiscovered benefit in buying from a dealer.... silly me.... I should have known they're all thieving sods

ha ha yeah that does seem to becoming the general consensus among us enthusiasts more and more - lets just hope it eventually overflows to the non-enthusiast Porsche buyer and OPC's start losing volume sales to the indi's.

Interesting about the indies, I have found two cars with virtually the same spec and mileage around the £30k mark.... both indies. Not found one privately at all yet to the same spec, despite monitoring both here and Autotrader. Dealer prices remain north of £40k in order to pay for their branded Porsche champagne flutes in which they appear to serve Sunny Delight.

Its tough when there are few cars privately to look at because you are relying on the delaer prices only,however if these indies are offering at 30k just imagine what they paid for them kayc said:

Its tough when there are few cars privately to look at because you are relying on the delaer prices only,however if these indies are offering at 30k just imagine what they paid for them Agreed, it is a little scary.
Is one of the cars from Northway, they have a nice one at the moment and OPC Reading is only up the road.
