Full body respray of Chim ?

... you pay for what you get, I have heard of cars done for 1k and the owners being more then happy.
If you're the sort of owner that thinks cleaning your TVR means a bucket of soapy water, a tired old sponge and a quick wipe over with a chamois leather that Aunt Mabel gave you the Christmas before last, then having someone give your P&J a quick prep and a blow-over for a grand will make you a happy bunny.
However if you're the type that plans the weekend around giving your P&J a right good waxing (more tea, vicar?) using the latest NASA-endorsed carnauba that you convinced yourself was good value at over a hundred notes, or whatever is "wax du jour", then you'll enjoy the pain in the wallet for a proper prep and respray by a specialist for 3-4 grand. And every time you're up close and personal while you're buffing up that wax you just lovingly spread on, you'll notice why you paid to have the work done properly. The bucket and sponge owner won't get close enough to notice the difference and will have a good laugh to himself thinking about the twits who paid out over 3 times what he did for the "same" job.
I'm a 3-4 grand person myself and I think Bee Gee Coachcraft in Chessington will be finding it easy to separate me from my money in the spring.
A good percentage of the cost of a re-spray as people have said, is the prep. Anyone can un-bolt bits off of the car and take some wet and dry to their paintwork. It takes ages to fully sand the whole car down but it can be done, and that'll put the price down a fair bit if you're worried about the cost!

Anyone? Could you take wet and dry to your paintwork? I could, and have, but I have to admit it just doesn't feel "right" when you're doing it. I'd echo the comments on getting what you paid for. When my headlamp conversion was done I got a full front end respray. Looks good until you get close, then you find the odd dust speck in the paint. One day a full respray will be mine (about the same time it gets a body off chassis restoration!) and I will not scrimp on the paintwork.
I'll just add - if you have excellent existing paint work with no dings, scrapes and stone chips - then it will be a lot cheaper.
All these cost a lot of time (££££
to put right .. it is possible to spray top coat on top coat but it's not done often as the results are not as good.
Many paint jobs require that a certain colour base is laid first.
It's worth noting that the materials along will cost between £300 and £650 depending on colour alone (that includes base) so if you get a 1K job then they are not making much - so there fore taking very little time on it.

Would love a full respray on mine, but £3-4k can't really be justifed when it's probably only worth double that!
My paint is in really good condition, apart from the nose where that are quite a few stone chips, and also below the rear bump. Everywhere else it is perfect and with a bit of wax it has a mirror finish!
Paint will always get chipped, so i'm just going to leave it and spend money on more beneficial items.

Er...if you have Excellent existing paintwork, with no dings, scrapes and stone chips...why on earth would you want to respray it?
