Anyone recommend a decent rucsac that can safely carry a laptop?

Targus do a backpack type thing. Or there are those ones with the carbon shell, make you look like a turtle. I wanted one for mine, but they aren't big enough so check the size.

My R35 even came with a waterproof laptop bag to go inside the rucksack - not that the R35 has ever leaked.

I can't recomend a specific model, but I've used two or three with laptops and never had problems. Each of them has had a separate padded inner section for a laptop to protect it and ensure it can't fall off if the zips failed. That turtle-like one worries me - imagine falling off with that strapped to your back - ouch! Mind you, if I came off using the ones I do although it might still hurt, at least I'd have an attractive apple logo on my lower back!!

I use the Knox to carry my laptop. No damage and it perfectly waterproof...

Kriega rucksacks are brilliant, they just don't move around on your back at all. Will leak after a while though.

R25 is big enough without a load of other clobber. A waterproof bag is necessary, but you can get those separately from other people at lower cost.

Won't save the laptop of you go down hard either.

To be honest, when I do fall off, the last thing I'll be worrying about is the damage to the (company) laptop

In the event of an off my concern would be about the damage the laptop would do to you. In a ruck sack it is ideally located to do serious damage to spine and ribs.

I always wear a spine protector, which should minimise damage.

That's why I always wear a back protector. Even then I worry about possible spine damage if I had a fall with a fully-loaded rucksack - I reckon it could be nasty. Hey ho - just something else to worry about then . . . !!

Many years ago I used to play judo and, as you can imagine, spent a lot of time landing on my back. Given that most motorcycle back protectors are not even as forgiving as a judo mat, there is no way I would want to concentrate the force of a landing through an object such as a laptop computer even with a back protector in between it and me. Still, each of us takes our own risks!

I wonder if there are any statistics on this subject - I reckon they'd make for sobering reading. I sometimes ride with a camcorder in a bumbag (attached to an action cam). I'm sure this could do some nasty damage in the event of a fall. Time to get out the tank bag I think . . .

Quickie for those of you with Kriega sacks...
How do they sit with a hump on the leathers? Thinking of getting one, as they look like good kit, but I find my normal laptop bag quite uncomfortable with the hump, as its sitting a foot lower than it wants to.
edited for spooling

Just bought myself a Kriega R35. That should do the trick.
