What colour and what dealer?
Discussion
As I'm considering buying a pre reg vxr and I'm going hunting this weekend. I'd like some input as to what dealer you would recommend. I hear Greens in Rainham are good but then I read of Greens in Holborough, are these the same people? I've also seen people recommend Bellingers of Abingdon, and Picador of Southampton. I live in Northamptonshire (about 60miles north of London on the M1) but travelings not a problem.
And is there any chance of getting a colour poll? I like the black but dont fancy cleaning it every other day, so silver for me i think.

Never been one to shy away from the colour debate, (as the regular readers will testify!)
Quicksilver is the fastest.
Greens are tops for customer service in my books too. I believe the Monaros are dealt with at their Holborough branch but am ready to stand corrected. Brian?

Holy cow Kev, where you been.... do you just pop up whenever the Colour debate arises..
By the way....BLACK for the car.... GREEN for the dealer
Greens of Holborough were Greens of Rainham so far as concerns Monaro's-they moved the Monaro sales and servicing over when they opened the new showroom. Didin't buy mine from them but they have looked after the servicing for me. As for colours - red of course but you may find your choice limited by what available I believe Brian (Greens) may have said black was no longer available i.e they have all been sold (but I am sure he will correct me if I am wrong
)
)black is definately the best colour, especially when you go for the VXR which comes with the dark rear light clusters, they look out of place on the other colours. After black I'd probably go red. Silver I'm sorry to say is just plain dull. Black is pain in ass to keep clean, especially if its a daily driver though I'm not convinced red is any better, one look at the red VXR Astras at the BTCC events showed what a difference there is in a clean vs dirty red car, very close to the black car in need for upkeep - oh and remember red will go pink as it ages and thats never a good thing
.
If I went red I'd swap the lights over for a set of red cv8 type clusters, sure someone on here with black cv8 be glad to do a deal or you can pick up a set real cheap on Ebay from Oz. There's a premium on VXR rear clusters as a lot of cv8 owners would like to change - I got a "good deal" from Linden and it still cost me around 250 for my VXR lights. Red ones go for around 40-60 quid for the pair on Ebay.

Yellow is one of the rarer colours (like odyssy which is the db's), Picador's are good if you are in the South.
yellow is exceptionally rare, almost non existant on the VXR thats being enquired about!!
Black looks best imho but is a bst*rd to keep clean so Red or Silver are more pratical depends if you want discrete or dog kn*b red. At least red cars give the plod an opportunity to play snooker whilst working... red one, colour etc

Teach me to read all the post - don't think they made any VXR in yellow - so get a common Black one and respray

Here's an idea....
Buy my nearly run in VXR and with your spare cash - get a Supercharger

(I know, blatant advertising, but what's a guy to do??)

I've been away for a few weeks, combination of work & technical probs with the interweb.
Anyway, silver cars are invisible in fog, (or so my mum says), so you get stealth as well as speed!!
Many thanks for your input, I knew the "what colour?" thing sounded stupid as I wrote it. Seems like people would choose Black, Red, then Silver, but like you say options may be limited.
Just some conformation if you can please,
Greens of Holborough.

Is this where I need to point the satnav?
