Both courtesy of the kind chaps on Rennlist, both US tests.

Worth a read, not all 100% glowing & the first of the "full road tests" we have all been waiting for.

First "full" UK road test Next week from Autocar.

From Excellence magaine...

"...and an exhaust system that uses vacuum-operated flaps to alter the flat six’s soundtrack."

Err thats wholly true... also the vacuum-operated reduces back pressure so more power is available. Also flaps can be found inside the intake side too that change the length of the manifold depending on what speed you are doing - if you are driving at low revs, more torque is made avilable by this variable length closing.

"Finally, the U.S. GT3 can’t be had without a sunroof this time around, this despite howls of protest from purists…"

From "Car and Driver Magazine"...

1. Corvette Z06
2. Porsche GT3
.
.

I don't know what to say? Obviously it's American Bias to keep the Yanks "buying American" and also delluded that Americans know how to engineer best. Erm, 300bhp from a 5.7L engine... laugh Oh sorry, it's now 500bhp from a 7L engine!

Since I've been conducting my own "full" UK road test since the end of Nov.'06 I've found I've lost all interest in what any of these guys might have to say about the car. Lets face it I've been driving the car for thousands of miles and several months now so they're either going to draw the same conclusions as me - in which case they're right and I knew it anyway - or different ones - in which case they're wrong and not worth reading anyway! I now have my own, first hand experiences and nothing else matters frankly. Happens with every car I order - I eagerly wait for each road test up until the point my car arrives and then, after that, who cares! You, my lucky friend, are about to feel the same very soon I suspect!

US 997GT3s are always going to feel a bit compromised - with the extra weight and reduced rigidity in the roof.

Right come on then, you have owned the 997S, so we want a minimum 2000 words on 997GT3 vs 997S pros & cons. Ok I know that we can buy Purely Porsche GT & get the owner bit, but you can't find a copy anywhere around our way, so spill the beans & do a PistonHeads, the title could be.....Warning: 997GT3 catches TB.

bit surprised how a 7.0L posts such bad top gear times.
