Hi
In my search for an Esprit I have come across an orange one that supposedly used to bear the registration "L7 TUS". This registration
seems mighty familiar; does anyone recognise this car and confirm how good it is?
I am thinking mainly of avoiding track-day dogs, and am wondering if I have seen this reg on a website photo somewhere; you know, the ones where some formerly beautiful car lies stuffed in a gravel trap
thanks to its F1-wannabe jerk owner.
Cheers
Mark

No Adrian, I think yours is smarter. After all, I'm sure this one doesn't have the knob cosy...

I really like the interiors of the GT3... It's the older style but with flair...

I was offered that at 19K, but didn't like the colour.

I assume that must be the dealer that took it away from LLC yesterday after paying 18K.

If it had been Black, Metallic BRG, or Deep Purple, I'd have had it!

Mark,

Why don't you just make Adrian an offer. If he's only paid £18k for it and you offer £19k, then he might take it - especially as it means he will turn the car round quickly.

Always worth a go !

Cheers

There's an Azure blue one for sale at a Lotus dealer (Haydon in Wiltshire) that I quite fancy - shame I've not got the cash!

Lotus Esprit 2.0 GT3 , 1999 S Reg , Azure blue, 37,000 miles . Black Hide with inserts,air conditioning,Composite sunroof,cd player, electric windows,remote central locking, cat 1 alarm £22,495

Car link

Main website

Edited to say: I've not seen the car, and have no real clue about Esprits (other than knowing I want one!).

I heard on the Yahoo List a while ago that this one was up for sale:

www.cotswoldlotus.org/esprit/

Might be worth dropping him a line.

Hi
I rang up even before he had the photo in and asked about negotiation. They said they might come down £100 (!)

Also the silver one at "Cotswoldlotus" was P/X'd for a similar amount, and is advertised at £22k. Nice.

It surely would. I have been "stung" by dealers enough in the past that I would rather set fire to my car than P/X (or sell it for an equivalent amount) than line their pockets for zero effort. I cannot understand the thinking of people who practically give their cars away to dealers but baulk at the idea of giving an ordinary bloke a bargain.

PS before anyone thinks I am unnecessarily harsh on our sheepskin-wearing friends, I'll point out that the first car I bought from a dealer had JCB gear oil added to hide a big end knock, the second had been clocked, the third damaged (and covered up)between me agreeing sale and collecting, etc etc etc, not to mention the usual servicing horror stories. 'Nuff said.

I've never bought a car from a dealer, but I do think they provide a service to those who are looking for peace of mind (obviously making a massive assumption that they are reputable).

I've also never p/x a car either, if you can live with the hassle that seams to come with selling a car privately (i.e. people not turning up, the standard tyre kicking crew) then the additional cash is worth the effort.

I agree, I would rather let a fellow enthusiast get a bargain rather than a dealer any day.

I saw the Cotswold one initially was offered on the Yahoo List. Someone with a mind to buy could have pounced easily there and then before a Sheep-skinner () got into the equation.

The juicy Jaffa () one was offered to me actually by my local dealer as agent for the transaction, not the benificiery. I thought it great buy with 25K mileage, MY98 model at £19K. But the colour...

I think you have to pick your dealers with care because there are a few decent chaps about. Mine doesn't wear sheep-skin, so I knew he was okay
And the List is a good place for enthusiasts to exchange and find good homes for their pride'n'joy.

Edited to say:
Oh and don't forget LOTUS ESPRIT WORLD now has an ads section at unbelievable value: one payment to advertise a "sale" or a "wanted" for as long as it takes to sort you out.

Regards,
Nicholas

What's all that about ? It's the best colour there is, but then I might be a tad biased !
