Hi, I'm a newbee, so be gentle.

Basically I've got up to 7.5K to spend on a new car. I want something fast and fun and I've always wanted a caterham type clone. I have a banger estate which I can keep as backup but I'd like to be using whatever it is to commute my short journey to work (along the A40) as I want to actually use it!
My biggest problem is I live in a flat in west London and don't have a garage so it'll be on the street overnight. started looking at kitcars that i can fit a hardtop to, like ginetta, but wasn't too sure as, I was getting into elise prices and so thought why not just get an elise. I'd prefer to spend £4-6K and get a westie, but is it realistic to keep this on the street, can you get hardtops or anyting that'll help with secruity overnight. They also appeal becasue of the low insurance.... and I just want to feel like I'm sitting 6 inches from the road!! does anyone have any ideas. Even started thinking about RX7s, M3s etc etc, but not really me, an elise could be, but it would have to be a really cheap one and I worry about getting the bargain basement of any model....Any ideas?

I lived in NW London nr the A40 and ran a Sylva Fury for a long time as my only road car.
Without a garage it might get a bit wet though...out of all the smaller kit cars with a roof, I always liked the GTM Libra www.gtmcars.com/libra.php use K series engines, and similar performance to a Caterham, have the super cheap kit car insurance, and return decent mileage.

Any chance there is a widow nearby that has a garage you could rent?

I wouldn't want to park a car like that on the street on a regular basis. Anyways, good luck with your Westie hunting
