Please can someone help, I had a breakdown and lost all power, traced it to some dodgy wiring at the ignition switch. I have no ignition lights or indicators or power to the gauges. At the ignition switch I have 4 wires as per the bible, red, blue and yellow are fine. The 4th has been bodged and I believe it`s the wire that goes to the starter/ solenoid and the cold start injector. This wire came apart at the ignition causing the breakdown. I`ve reconnected it and no joy, Where and what is the cold start injector and could this have been damaged causing ignition failure. Also if I`m correct it feeds the Thermotine switch and the Green hot start module whatever they are. Oh it`s an S2 if that makes any difference, thanks for any advice, it`s got me beat My fuses look alright, I guess I`ve got hours of searching and meter checking to do, the large plastic connector has been replaced with inline crimps so it`s not that.

All those things are part of the flapper system (14CU) used on the early RV8 cars, as far as I'm aware none of them are applicable to EEC IV system that runs your Ford V6.

Correct but if you have no ignition lights or indicators or power to the gauges, I suggest you look at the connection via the Red wire as that feeds to a brown/blue to the fuse ,then purple/red to the indicator switch. From the Ind switch a Green feeds the gauges and Ign light.(if its not a bad connection on this wire then I'd check the fuse again as all your issues are via 1 fuse)

Thanks for your input fellas, the red wire ends abruptly on the right side of the ignition and has two more pieces of black wire attached to make it reach the ignition switch, both joints had just been twisted together. A real botch job! I will get on it tommorow after work and keep you posted, cheers thumbup

Have you got an aftermarket alarm fitted? Mine was bodged in by twisting the wires together which caused all sorts of grief a few months later when it had time to corrode.

Yes now you mention it, yes, but it was on the car when I got it. The scary thing is it`s Thatcham approved, also I have paperwork to say it has been checked to conform with Thatcham and sent a copy to my insurers as proof.

"Thatcham approved" only refers to the level of protection, not to the skill or crappiness of installation...
