Had my tuscan 2 weeks now and loving every minute of it BUT im getting constantly pissed off with the so called boy racers, i know i should be laughing really i mean what chance does a corsa, saxo, nova or even scooby have againsta tuscan? But does that stop them driving an inch from the rear of my car ? No it dosent. Im bit pissed off cause they take such risks why do they bother.....

you get used to it after a while and blank them, if they try at lights i usually make some kind of witty remark...when you're big enough, etc etc. Whats worse tho is the middle aged salesman, stuck in their vectras etc, they are the ones that really wind me up - bitter basta**s

I have to be honest I don't seem to get problems with the Chavs and their corsas, for the most part there ok and have a lttle smile on their face and then back off.

A few months ago I was in Scarborough and a corsa pulled up at the side of the lights as it had followed me for a few miles (at a distance) I thought "oh here we go from the lights" I usually just let them go but oh no all four of them wound their windows down and startetd to prey with "we are not worthy comments" a bit of a luagh really.

Again for the most part they leave me alone and give the car a bit of respect !!!!

ditto

respect and no raceing (its BMWs that try that)

the other day some yoofs where following each other through traffic reving their engines, this went on for a while as they amused each other, then i decided to blip the throttle, resulting in big smiles and thumbs up from the yoofs.

lol... Have had a few "moments" as well...

Centre of Brussels, pretty small street with parked cars. At the traffic lights there's a separate lane to turn left, I'm in the lane to go straight on.

Civic (90-something model, the square one) with music way too loud. Chav boy at the steering wheel, with the hat backwards on turns down the music and revs his engine ( nice, a 1.4 16v with an exhaust the size of a chimney). Then looks at me, and I decide to give him the thumbs up.

Chav starts revving his engine again, then signing at me I should do the same, while frantically jumping up and down his seat. Look at him with a "WTF are you on about?" look, to which he responds by revving the nuts of his little engine.

Next moments are best described as:

whiiing-whiiiiinggg-whiiiiiiiiiiinng (the Civic)

WWWWOOOAAARRRRRR (me finally blipping the throttle)

wi-oo-wi-oo-wi-ooo (alarms of 3 parked cars going off)

I look at the Civic and give him an 'is this what you wanted'-look?

Civic's windows go up, as goes the music and chav boy looks straight ahead...

I think most max power boys would love a tvr but their paypackets and ins no claims only strech to a Saxo or Corsa so they try to make the best of what theyve gotscratchchin. When i think back to what i was driving when i was 19ish it makes me shudder. Most i've encountered around Lincoln are respectfull with thumbs up and 'nice motor mate' to which i reply 'and yours too!'They are after all as proud of their cars as we are of ours. I think cars tailgating are often getting close to try and identify the beast infront....... BUT then some are indeed complete arsoles .

i agree. i went to tescos the other night in the tuscan was about 10pm, car park was almost empty, parked up was in tescos for about 20 mins returned to car to find it surrounded by 8 boy racers who were out of ther saxos and civics taking pictures of it on there phones.got to my car and they were all gob smacked by it they even wanted me to start it up and give it a few revs so they could video it on there phones, haha.then drove home with a convoy of boy racers behind me.It was fun,as they new not to bother to even try to race me.

I couldn't agree more with R Tuy and Yahoooo. Most of these guys spend as much time as we do on their Sundays washing, polishing, waxing and cleaning their pride 'n' joys. The odd one is a pain but they are no way as bad as the frustrated middle agers who realise they made some bad life choices when they decided that beer and skirt would give them endearing happiness rather than hard work and/or a decent education.

These types are by far the most reckless, inconsiderate knobs around. Trying to race a Tuscan in a 8 year old mondeo with balding tyres and the kiddy strapped into the back seat defies belief. They are same ones who think nothing of giving your door a wee dent with the edge of their door in the car parks.

I find the worst offenders are the Imprezza / Evo brigade, many of whom feel it is their duty to drive appallingly. They are inclined to follow through Dales villages 3cm from the rear of the car and then try and stay there through the country. I usually just wave them through now.

Like some of the others have said the young lads in their Corsas and Saxo's are often the ones giving the thumbs up and wanting to see the car. When I was their age I had a Mk II Cortina with tiny dished steering wheel, metalflake paint job etc.. They are me then, driving what I could afford but aspiring to something else.
