MBE brain should work with LS!

Spoke to the distributors of MBE and it is possible to use the existing brain on my LS conversion. They have to re configure the hardware, and he will put me a base map from a mustang so it will run. I then drive down, he plugs his trick Lamda sensors in the exhausts, then we go for a rip, and hey presto it will self tune! Looks like i can use most of my existing loom too.

So MBE will actually talk about their ECU now, at one time they would just say 'Talk to TVR', Hmmmmmmm

Err, it won't be that easy. Have you thought how you're going to trigger it? My experiences with mbe and ls1's weren't very good to say the least.

I'd suggest pitching in with an emerald as they already have base maps which would be suitable. Or, have a word with Ringram about efi live Factory ecu's are very powerful and cheap.

Fire it using the original crank sensor, and the toothed ring on the front pulley.

What is wrong with MBE? Have you had experiance with running MBE on an LS already, if so what was wrong with it? MBE themselves could not have been less helpful they were total t@ssers, but the distributor in Surbiton was a good guy and seemed to think it was no problem atall.

Yes, they (mbe themselves in person) couldn't work out the basics of an LS, didn't understand how the trigger worked, stuck in a 4 cylinder engine map and all the way throughout this blamed everybody else. First the trigger was wrong, then the wiring, then the install. Then they realised it was the 4 cylinder map. They even at one stage though the trigger was floating back & forth despite it being welded to the crank and on and on.

Whoever you use needs to give you solid support and a company with ls maps to hand will give you a head start. Your ecu will probably be quite old and maybe not of the current generation. Didn't Craig use Emerald, they have several LS maps. They mapped Waynes bmw as well.

Yes Craig is using Emerald, and i have his old engine. However the fact that the ECU is already there, AND the loom is too is just too tempting not to run with it. The guy in Surbiton SBD motorsport seems clued up and keen to help, he's changing the PCB in the ECU so it will run on the LS. I agree that MBE themselves were totally up themselves and could'nt have been less helpful.

just out of interest emarald do a adapter so you can plug one of there ecus into a mbe loom,i use emerald because they are so helpful and know there stuff, before i found them i contacted mbe and they were the most unhelpful people in the business !!!! . we will se how brummies car runs on mbe it should be fine time will tell !!
