I have finally admitted that my ageing W2K system is in need of upgrading. (The OS rather than the machine!)
What is my best way of doing this?
Can I simply insert an XP CD and "upgrade", or do I need to copy eveything off my C drive, reformat it, and then start again from scratch?! (ie reinstall applications etc etc)
Honest opinions please... although I would prefer an easy upgrade, am I just asking for trouble if I don't back everything up and start again?

I would personally say back up what you want then blast away the whole damn thing and reinstall.. to be honest how long will it take you? 3 hours possibly? and how much more stable and faster will your machine be? It will be alot faster and stabler than running from an upgrade.
Upgrading can somtimes be like a bodge job it either works out great or just ok ish but you always wish u hadn't.
