Sorry to hear predicament David - the alternator fuse under the airbox is the usual suspect, I presume you know about that one though. I believe there's another in the battery compartment.
But until your battery gets up above 12v you'll not be moving - this is NOT possible by just a 10-minute boost of your battery which is what AA may try.
I once got out of this (without fixing the alt. fuse) by linking up a slave battery with long leads & drove 60 miles, but very awkward, and had to remove the power steering relay too as the steering drained far too much current on the move. Recovery probably best.

The sag an I came home via an AA lowloader
arriving at 17:30 some 5 hours after breaking down.
I looked for the alternator fuse as you suggested Paul, and found it blown.
You were spot on, I hadn't realised that fuse was there, I did know about the one in the front passenger footwell and that was fine.
It looks very soft metal. do you know what ampage it is?

My sag had to be recovered for same fuse under air box. Be aware if this goes and you have tracker fitted it will alert as stolen. There is another fuse in the battery box on the sag same as one inside passenger footwell, but not found the one on alternator yet. Have found a supply of correct plug/jump leads these are so useful.
Can any one tell me when power steering stops working where and how to check relay.

It's 100Amp. When mine blew the AA man and I wired up 4 normal 25A fuses in parallel until I could get a proper replacement.
Good temp solution TSS.
Sportie - glad the suggestion helped you find it quickly. They are unusual, so I think easiest to get one (pus a spare!) posted from a dealer.
When fitting, need to clean whole contact areas very thoroughly then add smear of vaseline or waxoyl, and tighten up nuts quite tightly (I had a new one fitted by a dealer and it overheated soon afterwards - was clean but apparently not tight so it arced slightly and then melted
) Varleyhd; think relay's in same position as T350, if so it's the only one tied above steering rack, visible on nearside. Don't know how to test relays particularly, other than matching up with a replacement and trying it.

The fuse for the power steering is located with the battery behind the front wheel (and is often mistaken for the infamous 100 amp fuse).
