aparently depends on the diff being used - search the forum there was a good discussion a few weeks ago.

I've got a close ratio box on mine and there is a difference. I cant remember the ratios but it does help to launch the beast, and keep up with them V8 cerbs. The 5th gear is the same so you still get the top end speed.

Fifth gear is the same, final drive should not be - in theory this would reduce top speed. Truth is it stands more chance of being quicker in fith as it is not so over geared with.

Keeping up with Cerbs? If thats the best you can do, take it back and ask for a refund.

I have had both, but not with a standard diff. The diff in mine is a 3:7 hydratrack. Lower ratio = faster acceleration. Very good with standard ratio box. I now have the close ratio box, last one fitted at factory as finished on day of the demo. AM thank God(cheers Heath). The 1st gear is a lot taller and would probably be a bit of a pig in constant stop start traffic. However we dont have too much of that where I live.
Top speed in first is about 62mph so 2nd gear corners on a track are now 1st gear.
Heath Briggs told me he thought the best combination was standard ratio and 3:7 diff. That is what went in all the test cars as they were then quicker. Although the diffs were nearly always put back to standard pre sale.
For me its the close ratio box and 3:7 diff. I think a close ratio box and 3:5 diff would be a pig. Best option mainland city dweller is definately standard box and 3:7 diff.Press Tamora was quick drove it with both diffs and there is a big difference. That was also standard box. Hope this helps.
My car was dyno'd pre x-mas a pulled 174mph top speed run with settings quoted.

Possibly a 3.9 plus CR box could be optimum...

Mine came with a CR box and a Tamora diff as they had run out of the correct ones in the factory. Best money I ever spent was replacing it for a Tuscan S diff. It transformed the acceleration.

My 2006 sag (late 2005 build) has a 3.7 diff , not sure what gbox but have to be quick to get into 2nd gear which goes on to about 82mph on change to third. Any more info appreciated.
