New to all this on line racing...
Discussion
Evening all, I'm a bit new to all this 'PC' based racing... but really keen to get involved!
I've had a childhood of consoles and I now currently get my 'virtual' dose of driving thrills by booting up the old 'station and thrashing round the ring on GT4 once in a while. As you can imagine, over the years this is getting very boring as the AI is so poor.
So, I've got the quickest broadband I can and a desktop PC.
I've always had a laptop from work so the PC has been bought new for wife and kids. Its a PC World special for about £400 all in. Spec: 1.8 GHz and 80GB (!)
Do I have good enough machine for things to run smoothly?
Just a case of buying the software / steering wheel and get racing??
Reading on your forum, either rFactor of GTL is the way forward!?!
Help! I do feel a bit lost as to how to get going...
All help much appreciated - and look forward to some good living-room racing soon!

There's an rFactor demo available that you can try. It's a download and if you decide it is working well that's all there is to it. You just enter a code and you have the full game. www.rfactor.net/
