2nd hand 911 questions

I have been offered a 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 (964 model), works out to about 11k, its done 266000km but had a new engine at 166000km (all bills present for 25k!!). Looks ok, seems to have been well loved. What should I be looking out for?

What the 4 wheel drive system like, is it reliable?

Cant make up my mind if I should go for it or an XK8, which for the same money would be quite a bit newer.

from what I read in these forums, the moral seems to be "get it inspected" - either at an OPC or by an independent specialist. Should cost less than £250 and will buy you *some* piece of mind.
