on advice from Tony McNulty, the Home Office Minister.

He advised people witnessing a crime (e.g. a mugging), not to interfere, but to "jump up and down", and "wave your arms". Activities that can land you with an ASBO.

If you are in a car, Mr McNulty advises that you "sound your horn". Clearly he has forgotten that this can be an offence.

Joined-up government?

Not to mention, waving your arms while driving a car will get you 3 points because you're not in control of the vehicle .

That way the mugger can come straight over and stab you as well, as you are politely advertising the fact you saw them.

Read the transcript at: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes . McNulty states, "... shouting at them, blowing your horn or whatever else deters them". Vine asks, "What, jump up and down?" McNulty replies, "... well sometimes that may work." - Streaky

Come on you can't whinge that the police do nothing when society won't lift a finger! Itt's not the Police who are responsible for Law and Order, and the Polititians who are aree resposible for running the country, it's us who are responsible for everything and them as 'specialists'.

First and foremost we have to look after each other, because if the whole of society participates in policing, the criminals will stick out like a sore thumb, and they'll have nowhere to hide.

Indeed. WE must then question the merits of the police who seem to insist on arresting the citizen who has defended themselves rather than the scrote..

Read the life on mars thread and look at the article posted by VH and you will see who gets prosecuted is down to the CPS not police. I will always have sympathy for those defending themselves but as police we are not judge and jury that's why our own get prosecuted and members of the public who do also have to sometimes face a jury.
