I have a decatted 4.2 coming up for an MOT and need some advice please.
Does everyone here pop their cats back on or are <friendly> MOT places relaxed about it?
Thinking about putting them back on anyway it's just too damn loud. Would it make much difference? If they are put back on will i need any engine remapping?

No TVRs aren't exempt from emmissions checks.
After 1st August 1992 they should meet cat emissions and have a cat present. But if the mot station is TVR "freindly" the may overlook it, maybe!

Yes all cars have slightly different emissions to the basic mot test criteria, I haven't got the emissions book with me now but the figures didn't look to far out of the ordinary? In theory a good engine properly tuned should pass a basic cat emissions test, in theory! Mine wouldn't it hasn't got cats on either but my moter is very friendly

Yeah, I did thanks. Always best to ask the experts (as I mentioned above) my p and j is in there again on Thursday having a 12k and a damn good seeing to. First service I've had done on the car so I am really interested to see the difference + the piece of mind in having some decent work done on the car running into the spring. Yours running ok still i hope. (it was one of the good ones IIRC! - nice colour too)

if i was you i would just put them back in, ohhh and since you'l have the decats just sittin around you can just send them upto me lol
Very few emission friendly garages since the whole lot got computerised. Some garages can simply type the emission values into the computer, if so they can cheat. Some garages have the gas analyser linked so impossible to cheat unless they plug the analyser into a nearby fiesta, which is one step too far for most garages.
The Cerb AJP8 has to pass the emissions test, just not the standard one. I calibrate my gunson emissions tester on all of my five cars at MOT time so its gets regularly tested and is quite accurate. I have also tested something like thiry Cerbs, and not found one yet that would pass a standard MOT emissions test, whether they have just had a tune up or not. I can't be sure but I very much doubt a cerb exists that would pass a standard emissions test. But then I suppose if it could there wouldn't need to be special rules for it in the white book would there?

Well if Dans smilling when he returns from the post service test drive you should be happy. If he's not neither you or your bank manager will be. Had a 12K in November and tappets early last year with them - Dan was smiling so naturally I was pleased with the drive home.
Not had a chance to get out much in mine since fitting a new starter and a larey exhaust - total mileage for January 58! the shame of it.
Good luck with the service hope yours makes Dan smile.
