Hi chaps,
i have a Dell latitiude x300, with a DVD drive connected via USB port.

I have bought some blank DVD disks, marked as 4.7GB, and want to copy a large 2.8 Gb file.

When i try to do this, i get told there is insufficient space on the disk. When i then look at the disk properties, it shows 100% free space but this only represents 736,958,464 bytes (702Mb)

What am i doing wrong - please!

Hey Jim
i'm just using explorer to copy the file across.
am currently searching for driver updates - do you think that might help?

I'm fairly confident (although I could be wrong) that explorer doesn't support DVD writing natively in the way that it does CD's. I'd go to Nero.com and download the eval version of nero 7 anmd try that.
