Media Box HDMI Input Kput?

Hi Guys
I recently upgraded my PC video card to one with DVI output and hooked it up to my Pioneer Plasma via the HDMI input.
All well and good, not brilliant resolution, but hey it's a TV not a PC monitor right?
Anyway, after using it for a while, I left the room and came back to a black screen with a blue bar at the bottom, then nothing at all. I rebooted the PC but nothing.
I tested the PC output on a different monitor and all was OK, so I think I may have fried the HDMI input on the Plasma media box. I don't have any other electronics outputting via HDMI to test with, so what do you think has happened, how could this have occured?
The TV is around 18 months old, should I take the media box back to the shop I bought it from or go direct to Pioneer for repair / replacement do you think?
