Oh...and if you visit in Summer, the only time when the 25 hour a day rain breaks for more than three minutes at a time, you will be eaten alive by midges which are three inches long and have fangs half an inch deep with a taste for sassenachs.

Or at least that's what it feels like.

Great photo, Steve. Gotta love the Highlands...

Anyone would think this was some sort of car site!

Meanwhile, actually, I don't think the panoramic works as well as the std format - need some sky and context methinks:

stunning shots! Beinn Aligin and Liathach yes?

Might have to tap into your locality for up to date climbing conditions! save me a wasted drive from Edinburgh and can't ask the in-laws in Lochcarron for fear I have to stop by!!

Steve,

Why does the weather always look great / slightly overcast? Does it never rain / snow.. is it not windy?

You do more for Scottish tourism than the tourist board do - forever painting an image of gorgeous scenery in lovely to okay-ish weather.

I reckon there are 5 nice days in Scoootland and when these come along you pop out, run off a few memory cards and then post them up through the year claiming "oh, it's like this today"

Steve,

It's always sunny here.

OK that's a slight exageration. We get 5 times the rainfall of East Anglia (apparently). On my 'pic-a-day' page, whenever you see a bird, sheep, dog, car, station, signpost, flowing water, inside anywhere, waterfalls etc... you can bet it's absolutely sheeting down.

...and it's almost impossible to take a half decent pic in slantywise rain and bugger all light. But as I work from home, if I see some half decent weather I nip outside with the camera. As Matt rightly points out, a good proportion of the photos are actually taken from my garden, It's not like I'm treking up blimmin great hills or anything paperbag

I'd love to take loads today (wall to wall sun predicted and snow still on the ground) and then post one a day for two weeks... but many of the local village check this site daily (sad but true) and would know instantly if I was fibbing!
