I agree but then I'd have to strip off whats there and have both sides of the car resprayed so the paint match looks right. Very costly.
Mask off the area, Use abrasive paper and remove the current gunge / Paint until the undercoat is showing. Keep the masking on there and apply a few coats of stone chip to the prepared surface. Repeat a few times to build up the stonechip.
when dry, remove the masking and wipe the edge with a little petrol to smooth the join between the paint and the stonechip.
Then all you have to do is apply tyre dressing when it looks a but naff.
Did mine 7 years ago, and it is still going strong. Needs re-doing this summer when the weather is nice and hot.
Total cost ... £5 for materials and 2 - 3 hours work.

that'll come in handy for mine - went for a spin on Sunday (still -2 deg C at 8:30 !), managed to miss the lamp post & armco, but just caught a small road sign which put a nice hole in the n/s arch protector

No night on the office floor in the end. Left work at 22:00, got home just after midnight!!
Not bad - 2 hours for a 16 mile journey! After getting back to work at 06:00 this morning, I could do with a few Zzzzd's or a go at ice skating the the wedge to wake me up

no work a bit short at the moment so wedge is on hold, hope to get some hours in the garage this week painting chassis, will then fit your old system ready to take car to body shop.
