Hi all,
Up to the other day my Broadband was working fine, Then i had a line problem (no dial tone on phone/couldn't receive incoming calls - Broadband okay though) ....ring up and report fault.

Fault cured that night on phone side of things but following morning i couldn't use my broadband connection.

The little green 'i' on the front of the router is no longer illuminated .

Could it just be a that following line/exchange problem my router login stuff has been dumped and needs re-entering or might it be that the ASDL feed to my house is dead ?

thanks for any help in fault finding.
FT

I did that , no joy

I unplugged modem line and re-inserted , no joy

I think the key here is that the green 'i' is not illuminating at all?

Our one of these routers occasionally does this but if I unplug it for about a minute and then power it back on it usually sorts itself out.

Log into the router admin page - http://192.168.0.1 - admin/password is the default unless you've changed it. Go to 'router status' what does it say for 'modem status' - if its anything other than 'connected' its likley to be a line fault or a physical router fault, more likley the former bearing in mind the line situation. Just ring them back and say Yo! Sort it!

I'd side with Plotloss on this one - sounds like your ADSL line isn't working properly! If you've got a USB ADSL modem spare then just pop it on temporarily to see whether that can sync to eliminate the possibility of it being your router.

I had the same problem this morning with the same router on Orange. I just left it for half hour and turned it all back on again and it worked. I think you can just get unlucky sometimes when the router gets nothing from the authentication servers and stands there doing nothing.

Does that make sense or am I a moron?

if the "i" light isnt coming on then there is no ADSL present on the line...or the router cannot detect it....very odd - id get them to check the line - they could have misconfigured it etc
