Grrrr @ eBay mad
I bought a 'genuine' Canon spare battery for my 350D late last year, but it doesn't seem to accept charge properly. When I put it in the charger, the light goes green after only a few minutes. I didn't think much of that first time around, but then it didn't last that long in the camera, so I assume it is not charging properly.
Unfortunately I bought it off eBay, so don't really have any recourse, but wondered if anyone had anyone had ever seen a similar situation (duff batteries, not getting stitched up on eBay!)? Or is it time to suck it up and buy another - guess maybe I'll just go for a non-OEM this time rolleyes

I assume it's second hand?

If so... either it wasn't 'commissioned' properly (3 charges to flat) or it's old and knackered.

I have 2 bats for my D2X... one I have used for 2 years and lasts only 1500 shots, the other has hardly been used and would last till the next time England win a world cup between charges.

i.e. buy another one.

Check 7dayshop.com - they often have them in their cheapies sale.

For what it's worth, I've got a Canon battery and two Jessops own brand ones... guess which lasts longer..?

Spoiler

It ain't the Canon

I don't think it is 2nd hand, it came in a sealed (ok with a staple) Canon blister pack. It doesn't look used - contacts and plastic case immaculate.

Yep, you are right, but no one likes a stitch up But there's worse things to worry about.

really? My battery that came with the camera is amazing, lasts forever, but then I don't use the camera enough at the moment...

I needed a new battery for my Canon G2 as it wasn't holding a charge. I think the genuine Canon price was something like £40. I managed to get a third party battery for £8 and it's been absolutely fine.
