Does anybody have a ice detector like this 95' , its not in the hand book and i think different to the one in the bible . I think it used to show red and green when the ignition is first switched on and then both go out unless very cold ,but can't be sure , but now only green comes with ignition , . It does detect temp with the green LED like today was on when parked in the shade and of in the sun and in the garage . But no red or when the ignition is put on is that correct ?. Just wondering if anybody new if it was a separate connector to the red ( bad connection maybe ) before i take the dash top off or had problems with them or if it is correct that only the green come on with the ignition.

Probably,This was an option and not standard .The worst bit was drilling the hole for the light in the dash without chipping it .Then they were pre drilled before the walnut finish was applied and made life a lot easier. The probe runs over the n/s wheel arch and should not be in direct air flow as the wind chill factor confuses it.Am i sad or what can still remember things like this?

not sad, very helpfull. :-)

The handbook doesn't list it. Next problem i will have is need to replace my dash as it has some cracks in it. So suspect i have to drill a hole in the replacment dash. any tips ????.

If it still works i would mount it in the the steering cowl ie the wiper/indicator cover in a place you can see it when the wheel is at strait ahead, the wires will be long enough. If you want to put it back in the dash put some masking tape on the front of the walnut and drill from the front to the back .Start with a 3/32 bit then a 1/8 and so on to about 6mm .Felt tip pens are good for hiding small marks .Good luck .Make sure you use new drill bits.

Yes, drill the hole in the dash BEFORE you get it reveneered! LCC will veneer around any holes that are there. You were going to get it reveneered rather than getting a new one? LCC do a real quality job, loads better than factory. With all due respect.
Notice mine has an alloy surround from the later cars.
